BELGRADE The fight against corruption and crime will be an element that will tip the scales for the Serb Progressive Party when it comes to deciding on early elections. Another element are economic reforms, SNS Vice-President Zorana Mihajlovic said on Wednesday. SNS sees "fight against corruption as key" "There is no investment or development unless we tackle the fight against crime and corruption, and we must not allow the people engaged in the fight to be alone in doing that," Mihajlovic, who is also a cabinet minister, told reporters in the Serbian government. She underscored that the system is being established for that fight to be efficient, noting that results are evident, but one must not stop at that. "I congratulate First Deputy Prime Minister (Aleksandar Vucic) and the team tasked with combating organized crime and corruption, as this is the first government that does not spare anyone in that sense," Mihajlovic said, voicing satisfaction over the fact that light has been successfully shed on the murder of journalist Slavko Curuvija. When it comes to economy, as the second most important criterion which the SNS Presidency will take into account when deciding on early parliamentary elections, Mihajlovic said that Serbia must finally emerge from the dark and eternal transition and embark on the road of growth. Asked whether the SNS has set a date for the meeting of the party's presidency during which the issues of possible parliamentary elections and upcoming elections in Belgrade will be discussed, Mihajlovic said that it is yet to be determined, but it is "certainly near" (Tanjug) Tanjug
