Putin wishes Nikolić happy New Year, Christmas

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin wished Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić a happy New Year and a Merry Christmas, the Kremlin press service has said.

Both countries will celebrate Christmas according to the Julian calendar, on January 7.

Putin said in the greeting that several fruitful bilateral meetings took place in 2013, the Russian news agency Itar Tass reported.

The message also "pointed to the importance of the declaration on strategic partnership signed between Russia and Serbia."
