President meets with Cypriot counterpart

NICOSIA Serbia has the support of Cyprus "in its EU integration, sovereignty and territorial integrity," the two countries' presidents have pointed out. This was announced by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic's press service after his meeting in Nicosia on Tuesday with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades. President meets with Cypriot counterpart "In a sincere speech, Nikolic thanked Anastasiades for Cyprus' continued support to Serbia's efforts in pursuit of equality with other countries," states the release. The meeting between Nikolic and Anastasiades was also attended by Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released, adding that the Serbian president also conferred with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. Mrkic had separate meetings with former Cypriot President Ioannis Kasoulides, Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and Israeli Minister of Tourism Uzi Landau. As a member of the delegation headed by the Serbian president, Mrkic attended the funeral of former Cypriot President Glafcos Clerides. Clerides died at the age of 94 on November 15. He held the office as the president of Cyprus in the period from 1993 to 2003 and he gave a major contribution to the development of relations between Serbia and Cyprus, the Serbian Foreign Ministry stated.
