NEW YORK Ivica Dacic has said the U.S. supports Serbia's efforts to get the date of the first intergovernmental conference with the EU as soon as possible. The prime minister on Monday in New York met with the U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Samantha Power, and said afterwards they had discussed the situation in Kosovo and the implementation of the Brussels agreement. "U.S. supports Serbia's efforts towards EU integration" "The fact that the re-run of the vote in northern Kosovska Mitrovica went through peacefully was described as positive and Serbia's efforts towards the EU, to get the date of the first intergovernmental conference as soon as possible, were also welcomed," Dacic stated. "The American administration has a very positive disposition regarding the development of our bilateral relations," Dacic noted. Dacic will take part in a meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, which will discuss the latest report on Kosovo filed by UN Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon. "There has obviously been progress in the implementation of the Brussels agreement, mostly because of the effort invested by Serbia despite of the problems caused by Pristina," he pointed out. Serbia has fulfilled every requirement for getting the start date for the accession talks with the EU and it expects such a decision in December, he said. (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
