PRISTINA The election commission of Kosovo has agreed that the voting for the local elections at three polling stations in Kosovska Mitrovica be repeated on November 17. Sources from the commission confirmed this for B92. Vote in Kosovska Mitrovica on November 17 Tanjug quoted the commission as saying that two weeks since the first round of the local elections from November 3 will have passed by November 17, so if a second round of election for the mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica is necessary, it can be held together with such elections in other locations on December 1. The latest round of the talks between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels finished on Wednesday. They focused on the local elections in Kosovo, and the result was an agreement on the steps to successfully complete the election process. Candidate for mayor of northern Kosovska Mitrovica Oliver Ivanovic said that the time was too short to organize the repeat of elections, but that the decision was "the only acceptable under present circumstances." Another candidate for mayor, Krstimir Pantic, told Tanjug that the decision to repeat the vote on November 17 was "regrettable" because it was "impossible to carry out adequate reparations for a new round of voting" in the next ten days. "It would be good if the international community once again considered delaying the date because November 17 is too short a deadline to explain to the citizens, who are scared, in an adequate way the necessity of turning out to vote," said Pantic, and added: "I'm afraid that the bureaucracy in Brussels cares much more for leaving on time for the Christmas and New Year holidays, than for the regularity of elections and safety of citizens in Kosovo and Metohija." This official also said he "feared that the same scenario that happened on November 3 might repeat on November 17." B92 Tanjug
