Belgrade - the most likely candidates for the Minister of Education is Radivoje Papovic, the former rector of the Pristina University, Novosti reports. The newspaper adds that Papovic now the Ethics professor at Medical School, the University of Belgrade, and the negotiations with him are drawing to their end and he should overtake the department led by Zarko Obradovic on 26th of August, according to the reports on the news portal 021. Who could Replace Obradovic? Papovic was educated in Belgrade and Pristina, specialized abroad. He currently works at the Institute of Human Genetics. As a former rector he survived assassination in 1997 when a car bomb exploded as the official vehicle in which Papovic was passing by. He and his driver suffered serious injuries. At one time, the former rector captured the attention of the public by giving a statement: "Here, unfortunately, the best among us are also the cheapest ones" and then he decided that all students with a GPA greater than 8.5 must obtain a permanent job in colleges or institutes. Because of the letter he addressed to the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 1994, where he stated that "Patriarchate is empty without a Patriarch", the public proclaimed his as someone who wanted to be a rector to Patriarch Pavle too.
