Only DS Certain to Appear at Elections. Three weeks prior to the expiration of the deadline for registering election lists there cannot be any talk of forming a united Serb list, on which the authorities from Belgrade insist, and only the Democratic Party (DS) says that it will certainly register for these elections, Blic writes. Blic: No Negotiations on United Serb List The President of Kosovska Mitrovica municipality and official of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Dragisa Vlaskovic, said that that party had not changed its opinion on entering elections on 3 November. “We remain by the standpoint that we will not appear at the elections, even though we are prepared to discuss everything. There has still been no mention of a united list, we are not concerned with this”, Vlaskovic told Blic. Branko Ninic from the DS said that that party does not support a united list. “There has, so far, not been any talk on this issue. If there should be, we will not support it, since with the forming of a united list some local leaders from the north would hide behind it”, Ninic said. Blic writes that, according to the public opinion polls, between 17% and 20% of the Serbs would turnout for the elections, but the president of the parliamentary Board for Kosovo, Milovan Drecun (SNS), says that he expects a big turnout. “I believe that we will succeed in forming a united list, and we are yet to discuss this in the upcoming period. A big turnout is of strategic importance for the defense of Serb interests in Kosovo”, said Drecun, adding that the Office for Kosovo and the parties of the ruling coalition were “doing everything”, through their boards in Kosovo, to have as many Serbs as possible turnout for the elections. /Tanjug, file/ Blic
