BELGRADE Special Prosecutor for Organized Crime Miljko Radisavljevic has denied that he plans to submit his resignation in the next few days. Radisavljevic said in a written statement for the media that a report published in the Belgrade-based daily Blic, which asserted that he was stepping down for health reasons, was "gross misinformation." Organized crime prosecutor denies he'll resign The special prosecutor added that publication of false information about his work and about his alleged resignation was an attempt oto destabilize, and threatened the independence of the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime. According to Radisavljevic, it also threateened the initiated criminal pre-trial proceedings, and represented "a kind of perfidious pressure" on him as prosecutor. He noted that the numerous criminal cases brought so far by the prosecution against members of organized crime groups involved in drug smuggling, arms trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, against the perpetrators of corruption offenses and financial crimes, as well as confiscation of illegally acquired property, all "jeopardized their vital interests." "My future work will also not be in line with the interests of the criminal-tycoon lobby, because I plan to, with my deputies and assistants, continue the work that has been started, convinced that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Serbia," stressed Radisavljevic.
