EULEX says courts in Kosovo "do not have secret indictments"

PRISTINA There are no secret or sealed indictments in Kosovo courts, a spokesperson for the EU mission, EULEX, has said. Secrete indictments do not exist since they have no legal basis, Irina Gudeljevic told Tanjug, stressing that warrants can be issued "during the process of pressing charges or after raising the indictment in line with the Kosovo laws." EULEX says courts in Kosovo "do not have secret indictments" Gudeljevic said that EULEX prosecutors are currently working on 94 war crimes cases in Kosovo and Metohija, and that so far 28 rulings have been passed. Serbia has not and will not obstruct investigations into war crimes, regardless of the nationality of the suspects and the victims, Vulin pointed out. “But the existence of secret indictments is not something that can improve the situation in Kosovo and Metohija,” Vulin said. In the last few days, four Serbs have been arrested in north Kosovo which triggered a blockage of the Priština-Raška magistrate road near Zvečan where citizens parked trucks across both lanes.
