BELGRADE The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Presidency unanimously supported a government reshuffle on Wednesday. Party leader and PM Ivica Dacic said that SPS members "stand ready to step down from their positions in the government if the party's top body takes that stand." SPS Presidency "backs government reshuffle" Dacic told reporters that at today's presidency meeting he was tasked with talking with the coalition partners, particularly with leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic, about aims of the reshuffle, political objectives of the government and replacements that will be put forward to the parliament. The talks with Vucic, which began three days ago, will continue over the weekend, Dacic said, dismissing certain media reports which claimed that the SPS is an obstacle to the government reshuffle as it defends its ministers. Dacic says that the SPS Presidency has assessed very positively the overall effect of the government's work taking into account that one of the main goals has be achieved - the opening of Serbia's EU entry talks. “We think that the entire Serbian government has done a good job, all ministers included,” he said, explaining that the reshuffle is not about whether someone has done a lousy job, but whether some changes could help the government achieve even better results.
