Serbian FM meets with Cuban deputy PM

BELGRADE Serbian Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic conferred with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ulises Rosales del Toro "on the initiative of the Cuban side," Tanjug reported. The meeting was not planned, but Del Toro wanted to personally express the satisfaction of the Cuban leadership over the results of Mrkic's talks in Havana, said the news agency. Serbian FM meets with Cuban deputy PM Del Toro said that the two countries' political relations are very good and commended the agreements on future cooperation in the areas of health, agriculture, civil engineering and tourism. Moreover, Del Toro extended warmest greetings to the Serbian government and again invited Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic to visit Cuba. During his visit to Cuba, Mrkic met with Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. The Serbian minister also conferred with Cuban Parliament Speaker Esteban Lazo on strengthening of mutual cooperation with a focus on economy, and they agreed on concrete steps towards the goal. On the occasion, Mrkic thanked the Cuban parliament and Cuba on the support "to Serbia's position on Kosovo and Metohija." Mrkic also visited the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, where he conferred with Center's Director Luis Herrera Martinez on the possibilities of cooperation and announced a visit of the Serbian health minister to Cuba in the coming months.
