"Progress made, process irreversible"

Catherine Ashton said in Luxembourg on Monday that Belgrade and Priština have made progress towards visible and sustainable normalization of relations.

LUXEMBOURG Catherine Ashton said in Luxembourg on Monday that Belgrade and Pristina have made progress towards visible and sustainable normalization of relations. "Together with EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule I have sent a letter to the EU member states on the progress towards visible and sustainable normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo," said the EU foreign policy chief, who is partaking in a two-day session of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU in Luxembourg. "Progress made, process irreversible" "Together with EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule I have sent a letter to the EU member states on the progress towards visible and sustainable normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo," said the EU foreign policy chief, who is partaking in a two-day session of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU in Luxembourg. "I have particularly focused on two aspects - irreversibility of the process and improvement of quality of the relations, which is reflected in the exchange of the liaison officers and the continuation of the work on the implementation of the Brussels agreement," she said at a press conference. Earlier on Monday, Ashton announced that "the report on the progress achieved by Serbia and Kosovo will be discussed on Tuesday." The Foreign Affairs Council of the EU met on Monday, led by Ashton, to decide on whether to open a new chapter on regional policies. The foreign ministers of the EU will discuss Serbia officially on Tuesday, and are supposed to adopt conclusions by noon, which should be adopted at the Brussels summit three days later. Ashton and Fule sent on Friday a joint letter to the EU member states calling for a clear positive decision on the opening of Serbia's accession talks. Tanjug

The Foreign Affairs Council of the EU met on Monday, led by Ashton, to decide on whether to open a new chapter on regional policies.
