Greek President Papoulias starts visit to Serbia

Greek President Karolos Papoulias has arrived in Belgrade and will hold a series of meetings with Serbian officials on Tuesday.

Papoulias met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić, and will also confer with Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, Parliament Speaker Nebojša Stefanović and Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarch Irinej.

The Greek president was welcomed at the Palace of Serbia with highest state honors, including a ceremonial guard and the playing of national anthems.

The one-on-one meeting between Nikolić and Papoulias was followed by a meeting of the delegations of Serbia and Greece.

Nikolić also presented Papoulias with the Order of the Republic of Serbia, while Papoulias decorated Nikolić with the medal of the Grand Cross of the Order of the Redeemer.

The two presidents addressed reporters in a joint news conference.

After the talks with Dačić and Stefanović, Papoulias will appear at an official dinner in his honor hosted by Nikolić.

On Wednesday, Papoulias will attend a Greek-Serbian business forum organized by the Greek embassy at the Hyatt Hotel.

After this, Papoulias will meet with Patriarch Irinej.


President receives US ambassador

President Aleksandar Vucic received on Wednesday US Ambassador to Belgrade Kyle Scott, with whom he discussed "bilateral relations and regional issues."
