VIENNA Former Austrian vice-chancellor Erhard Busek says the issue of Serbia's EU accession talks depends on certain EU members, especially Germany, and not on Serbia. He underscored that the forthcoming elections in Germany also need to be taken into account. Date depends on Germany, says former Austrian official Busek told Tanjug that he believes that the date will be granted but he also said that there are certain internal problems which have little to do with Serbia. He underscored that a signal needs to be sent and that "it should be made clear to Serbs that they have to implement the Belgrade-Pristina agreement from Brussels." Busek, whom Tanjug referred to as "theAustrian expert for south-east Europe", stated that "it often seems that the situation in the Balkans is developing positively and then a setback is made, which is again followed by progress," and that "this method needs to be replaced." When asked whether a negative decision in terms of the date could jeopardise the Brussels dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Busek said that there were "many possibilities of problems arising." He added will "believe in certain things only after they are carried out." "There is always a tendency to reach an agreement and then withdraw some points from it. This is the typical feature of behaviour in the Balkans," Busek was quoted as saying by the news agency (FoNet, file) Tanjug
