ZVECAN The inaugural session of the interim Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija will be held in the first week of July. This was decided on Thursday by councilors of the four Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo, who convened in the town of Zvecan. Provincial assembly postponed until early July A total of 59 out of 84 councilors present at the start of the session voted for this decision, while councilors from the Democratic Party (DS) were against and left the session earlier. DS councilor Branko Ninic said that the Democrats will not take part in the creation of this body. The councilors said that the Brussels agreement is a political agreement which has not become part of Serbia's legal system, but rather envisages withdrawal of this system and all institutions of Serbia from Kosovo andMetohija. Therefore, the councilors decided that the agreement is unacceptable and harmful to the Serbian people and requested that it should not be implemented. "Everyone who is trying to implement the Brussels agreement without previously incorporating it into Serbia's legal system are putting this political agreement before the Constitution and laws, which is an act of open and unlawful violence," read the conclusions from the meeting. The councilors also said that Serbs in northern Kosovo would only accept elections that would be called by the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia by its own laws, which is why they called on all compatriots not to participate in the preparation and possible holding of elections called by Pristina's authorities. Some councilors from the Serb Radical Party and the Democratic Party of Serbia criticized the behavior of their colleagues from the Serb Progressive Party in the province and accused First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic of obstructing their intention to form a provincial assembly.
