BELGRADE President Tomislav Nikolic met with Speaker of Indonesia's House of Representatives Marzuki Alie in Belgrade on Wednesday. The Serbian president expressed his gratitude to Indonesia's principled support in respect of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. President thanks Indonesia for supporting Serbia's integrity Confirming that overall bilateral relations are very good, Nikolic said that “there are many reasons for us to cooperate even more” and that the relations in the economic field need to improve, the Serbian president's press office said in a release. “We want to resolve the Kosovo and Metohija issue by peaceful means and dialogue and the support of our friends from Indonesia means a lot to us,” said the Serbian president, adding that Serbia rightfully expects a date for the start of EU accession talks as it has met all the expectations placed before the country. Thanking for the warm hospitality shown to him, Marzuki Alie said that the cooperation between the two countries is steadily improving and that many aspects of this cooperation have already been successfully implemented. Pointing out that Indonesia is very interested in investing in Serbia, Alie said that Indofood, a leading food production company, is currently exploring the opportunities to invest EUR 20 million euros to build an advanced regional center for the production and distribution of food products in Serbia. He pointed out that Indonesia will continue to support Serbia's commitment to resolving the issue of Kosovo and Metohija by peaceful means and to coming to fair solutions through dialogue. Alie recalled that his country respects and appreciates the development of relations between Serbia and Indonesia at the time of the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement. Nikolic and Alie concluded that the opportunities for cooperation are inexhaustible and it should therefore be intensified to make it easier for the peoples of the two friendly countries to live better and have a prosperous future, the release said. Marzuki, who is heading an Indonesian parliamentary delegation on a visit to Serbia, encouraged Serbian construction companies to take part in the realization of the Indonesian master plan for economic development, which includes plans to build six major road corridors on the country's biggest islands. Ljajic and Marzuki agreed there is a lot of room for Indonesian companies to invest in Serbia, as confirmed by the upcoming visit of representatives of the Indonesian state investment fund, who will discuss investment options with Serbian officials in late June in Belgrade.
