German FM's visit to start with working dinner with Vucic On Monday, the German FM is scheduled to meet with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic, Tanjug was told at the Serbian Foreign Ministry. Westerwelle is visiting Serbia ahead of the May 21 meeting between Dacic and Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci, mediated by EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, on the implementation of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina. Ruling German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) high-ranking official Andreas Schockenhoff in September presented seven conditions on which Berlin’s decision would depend. Dacic has recently said that he would not rule out a possibility of new conditions. “I do not believe that there will be new conditions because the current ones have not been fulfilled yet. A part of the political elite in Bundestag, primarily the CDU MPs, believe that the conditions have not been fulfilled and that the agreement is just a dead letter. They want to see the implementation before they give a positive assessment to Serbia,” Faculty of Political Sciences professor Predrag Simic told dialy Blic. He said that “judging by the current mood, it is hard to expect a positive decision”. Former Serbian Ambassador to Germany Ognjen Pribicevic believes that Westerwelle is coming to Serbia to push for the implementation of the Brussels agreement. “Everything depends on what will happen with the implementation. Germany’s other demands are on the back burner compared to it,” he explained. Guido Westerwelle (Beta, file) Blic Tanjug
