BELGRADE Serbian and Russian Presidents Tomislav Nikolic and Vladimir Putin will sign an agreement on strategic partnership in Sochi on May 24. Daily Vecernje novosti has learned that the strategic partnership agreement will be signed on May 24 after three years of harmonization. Serbia, Russia to sign agreement on May 24 The agreement will additionally strengthen the two countries’ ties in all areas, from the economy to politics, the daily writes. The document will define key principles that Belgrade and Moscow’s future cooperation will be based on. The agreement focuses on the improvement of economic ties, trade and strategic infrastructural projects, as well as coordinated actions on the international political scene, especially regarding Kosovo. The document primarily points to the high level of political relations between Russia and Serbia and expresses readiness to continue to improve the ties in all areas of mutual interest. Serbian First Deputy PM and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic will also travel to Russia and meet with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Serbia has similar agreements with China, Italy and France and it will be the first country in the Balkans to sign the strategic partnership agreement with Russia.
