BELGRADE Democratic Party (DS) Spokeswoman Aleksandra Jerkov says that the government ignored all those who should have been involved in the negotiations with Pristina. She stressed that the government was therefore responsible for persuading Kosovo Serbs to accept the Brussels agreement. DS: Govt. must persuade K. Serbs to accept agreement Jerkov told a press conference that the government had during the negotiating process ignored the Serbian parliament, representatives of northern Kosovo Serbs and added that the public had had little information about the negotiations. “I am afraid that the dialogue that could have been established with them (Kosovo Serbs) is a bit of a late reaction now and the Serbian government is absolutely responsible for persuading the representatives of northern Kosovo Serbs to accept such an agreement,” she stressed. The DS spokeswoman pointed out that the DS had supported the Brussels agreement because the rejection would lead the country to isolation and leave Kosovo Serbs at the mercy of Pristina, adding that nobody would be able to guarantee their rights. “We believe that the accepting of the agreement and its implementation is in the interest of Serbia and northern Kosovo Serbs. However, responsibility for the way the government will use to persuade them lies absolutely with the Serbian government that left them out of the entire process, just like the entire public,” Jerkov noted. Northern Kosovo Serbs will hold a protest against the implementation of the Brussels agreement at 12:44 CET in downtown Belgrade on Friday. Aleksandra Jerkov (Beta, file) Tanjug
