BELGRADE Liaison officers of Belgrade and Pristina, Dejan Pavicevic and Lulzim Peci met at the premises of the EU Delegation to Serbia in Belgrade on Thursday. They discussed technical details concerning the establishment of liaison officers, whose exchange should take place by the end of June. Pavicevic: Liaison officer exchange by end of June The meeting was attended by Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert. Pavicevic told Tanjug that Peci visited on Thursday the office where he will be working in Belgrade. Pavicevic said that the meeting went very well, adding that one more technical meeting may need to be held to define further details and avoid possible misunderstandings. The exact time of liaison officer exchange depends on Pristina, since the Serbian government and Belgrade are ready to do the exchange as early as tomorrow, he added. Pavicevic noted that he visited Pristina about three weeks ago to discuss implementation of technical agreements relevant to the exchange of liaison officers and to see the rooms where he will work, which are located on the premises of the EU Office in Pristina. Pavicevic explained that liaison officers are not diplomats and the agreement reached between Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Thaci refers to liaison officers without a diplomatic status. Nowhere in the relevant technical documents are diplomats, immunities, or anything else that may have something to do with a diplomatic mission mentioned at all, said Pavicevic. “All that is mentioned is exchange of two liaison officers. We are not talking about any offices; we are talking only about two men who will be staying in Belgrade and Pristina and facilitating implementation processes, particularly concerning the latest Brussels agreement,” Pavicevic concluded.
