KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Aleksandar Vulin was in Kosovska Mitrovica on Thursday where he said that Serbia's negotiating team "would not do anything not in line with the Constitution." The Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija chief informed the local officials about the situation regarding the talks and assured them that "no one on the Belgrade team would do anything that violated the Constitution, teh (parliament) Resolution or the people's interest." Kosovo office chief meets with Serbs in north Serbia's team has not signed anything and the blame for interrupting the talks lies with Pristina, which sees the talks as something where it should win everything and give nothing, he noted. "We have great respect for the international community, which is facilitating these negotiations. We hope it will continue to invest great effort towards success in the talks, but we also expect everyone involved to respect Serbia's views," he stated. He said the meeting with the presidents of northern Kosovo municipalities and head of the district of Kosovska Mitrovica Radenko Nedeljkovic had mostly focused on the talks in Brussels. Nedeljkovic said Serbs from northern Kosovo are asking the state leadership to honor the Serbian Constitution during the talks in Brussels, adding that they are standing by the conclusions adopted at earlier sessions. He said the people in the north believe no one has the right to make any agreement without their consent and "no one has the right to push us into an independent state of Kosovo." "Together with our state leaders, we want to find the most appropriate, most acceptable and sustainable solution for all citizens in the province, not just for the Serbs but for all those who are loyal to the state of Serbia," said Nedeljkovic. "I believe Serbia's top officials will remain consistent in the coming talks, that they will not succumb to blackmails and conditions, and I think the Serbian people need to have a say in all contentious issues," said Nedeljkovic. "I want to offer my support to Serbian leaders to remain consistent and not consent to blackmails and independence for Kosovo," he said. Vulin's deputy Krstimir Pantic and the mayors of the four municipalities in northern Kosovo also attended the meeting in Kosovska Mitrovica. (Beta) Tanjug
