Committee chair expects Belgrade-Priština agreement

BELGRADE Milovan Drecun says he expects that Belgrade and Pristina will reach an agreement given the progress which was made in the ninth round of the talks. “I believe that we are moving forward, and that this is an unstoppable process,” chairman of the Parliament Committee on Kosovo and Metohija and official of the ruling SNS told Tanjug. Much of the solution that Belgrade proposed was included in the offer presented by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, Drecun said, adding that the dialogue is moving forward and in the right direction regardless of Pristina's obstructions. "Pristina is trying to take advantage of Belgrade's readiness for a compromise by imposing unacceptable conditions, such as that we must not prevent their possible membership in the UN," he said. "This simply cannot be accepted. Moreover, (Hashim) Thaci is making threats of violence. When somebody is making threats of violence, this is a direct obstruction of the talks," Drecun said. "A positive signal is also the fact that Brussels and Washington have started to recognize Serbia's minimum interests," said Drecun. Tanjug
