BELGRADE Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic has stated that Serbia could hardly accept Brussels' proposal on Kosovo because it would be impossible to be implement it. “That is why we are asking for more flexibility because regardless of deadlines (EU High Representative) Catherine Ashton has to give her opinion, the decision will be made in the end of June. We believe that, despite of it all, we should not throw away everything positive that has been reached in the dialogue,” he told daily Politika. “EU’s proposal cannot be implemented” He added that the dialogue should continue and that political and security stability should be preserved. “That is why we are trying to improve the proposal, otherwise the thing that has been proposed cannot be accepted. Absolutely none of us has thought about accepting it. Proposals are far below the minimum that we could imagine in our worst dreams,” Dacic said. He added that a fact that there was no formal draft proposal was a problem as well. “The problem is that there is no some formal draft proposal we could vote on, there is a summary of the proposal they presented to us, which was unacceptable,” the prime minister said and added that it was in Serbia’s best interest to reach an agreement for the sake of peace and security of Serbs in Kosovo. However, he warned that there was an “alternative” plan to declare the Serbian side “unconstructive” if no agreement was reached and that Belgrade would be blamed for the failure to reach a deal. “I think we are reaching a situation that we need to fight for some things that are still written in the Ahtisaari plan but that are not implemented in Kosovo,” he explained. Dacic said it was impossible to expect that there would be no more talks on Kosovo and that the only question was who would participate in the talks and what the talks would look like.
