BELGRADE Continuation of Serbia’s EU pathway depends solely on an agreement with Pristina, Serbian Deputy PM for EU integration Suzana Grubjesic has stated. “We have made an enormous effort to reach at least some kind of acceptable solution and just like in Brussels, we need to act responsibly and rationally in the next few days when we need to make a difficult but right choice,” she explained. Deputy PM: EU talks date depends solely on dialogue When asked about consequences if Serbia failed to get a date for the start of the EU accession talks in June, the deputy PM said that this was not about the date but about a choice to move forward or stay on the “outskirts of outskirts”. “Such fragile economy like ours can hardly stand closing of European funds or giving up of investors. The suspension of the integration means putting long awaited reforms on hold because reforms come to the forefront only in the negotiating process. Unlike other countries, we have so far had to solve political issues and the reforms have been in the shadow of difficult political decisions,” Grubjesic told daily Blic. She assessed that the EU talks date was a chance to transform Serbia into a modern and well-organized country, establish the rule of law and strengthen the economy.
