BELGRADE Tomislav Nikolic has told Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller that besides Russia's investments, its support for Serbia's territorial integrity was also "precious". "During the talks that have taken place in Brussels so far, Serbia has made maximum concessions, primarily with a view to preserving peace and stability in the region,“ the Serbian president said in Belgrade on Monday. adding that "now it is up to the other side to make concessions." "Russian investments in the energy domain will help Serbia kick-start the economy and create jobs,“ Nikolic said, adding that Serbia's leadership will put in maximum efforts in order to justify the trust that Russian investors had placed in the country. Miller, who traveled here for the signing of two contracts regulating the import of Russian natural gas, conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Nikolic, underlining that Russia is working actively on the existing and future investments in Serbia. Miller said that Russia and Serbia are bound by a series of capital projects which are being successfully realized, adding that a number of energy projects of particular importance for Russia are being planned, the president's press service announced. Estimating that the cooperation has so far been very successful, Miller recalled that EUR 2 billion have been invested in the Petroleum Industry of Serbia so far, with EUR 3 billion due to be invested. "As far as the South Stream project is concerned, everything is running according to the schedule, and construction works in Serbia are due to commence in December 2013-January 2014," Miller noted.
