BELGRADE Leader of the opposition Democratic Party (DS) Dragan Djilas says the current government has a support of Western countries that advocate Kosovo’s independence. He told Belgrade-based Prva TV that “many bad things have been done in the past six months” and that the government “has full support of foreign countries that are interested in getting Kosovo’s independence” and that this was the reason it managed to survive despite all scandals. DS leader accuses govt. of “doing many bad things” According to Djilas, it is good that top state officials are united when it comes to the solving of the Kosovo issue but the question is why it was necessary to make some other decisions bearing in mind that the Resolution on Kosovo was adopted by the Serbian parliament. “This policy of offering more than they are asking for is not good, we are interested in the position of our people in Kosovo and Serbia should make a program for next 30 years instead of having every government start from scratch,” the DS leader noted. He stressed that without strong economy Serbia could not help its citizens, especially not those in Kosovo. “The DS has a policy that it has not changed since it was founded, this is the only social-democratic policy which is trying to help those who need help and such policy was successful in some places and unsuccessful in other,” Djilas said. He added that the Democrats were working on an economic program that would be presented at the DS assembly meeting soon. Dragan Djilas (Tanjug, file) B92 Tanjug
