NOVI SAD Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Vojvodina assembly Speaker Istvan Pastor met on Saturday and discussed the security situation in the province. They agreed during Saturday's talks that the existing regulations of the penal policy relating to international incidents should be reviewed. At a meeting in Novi Sad, it was agreed that together with the police members of the Gendarmerie should engage too in the municipalities which had seen a number of incidents lately that were detrimental to international relations and upset citizens, announced the police directorate in the city. It was concluded that all other necessary measures should be taken so as to maintain a positive trend, i.e. reduction in the number of these incidents, which had been noted in recent years. It was agreed that the police presence should be strengthened in the areas which saw an increasing number of petty thefts. Moreover, all relevant bodies should help strengthen citizens' trust in the state's readiness and capability to ensure their safety and security of their assets. As stated in the release, Dacic, who also serves as interior minister, and Pastor will continue to cooperate intensively and constructively, with a view to ensuring peaceful and safe life of all citizens living the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, regardless of their national or religious affiliations.
