BELGRADE Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic has warned members of the government not to play with its stability until June. A decision on a date for the start of the EU accession negotiations should be made in June. President tells government “not to play with stability” He told Belgrade-based Prva TV that “excitement and enthusiasm” would subside after that and that some might even decide to hold elections. “Am I satisfied with the work done by the government? I am. Was the mandate given to the right government? It was. Is the government stable and will it survive? That is a question for 11 Nemanjina St. They can ask for my advice and I am giving them an advice – do not play until June because we are putting a great effort in an attempt to get a date for the beginning of the EU negotiations,” the president pointed out. He said that he had discussed the stability of the government and other issues with Prime Minister Ivica Dacic. Commenting on the PM’s meetings with a member of a drug gang, Nikolic said: “I think he made a mistake, he should have told everything that happened the first time it was mentioned.” “I think Dacic is under a huge pressure and that the last thing he would need is to have the rest of us attacking him and the question is how he would mentally handle such attacks,” the president explained. According to him, early elections would bring new distribution of power and that it would be visible who deserved even greater trust in the government. Tomislav Nikolic (Beta, file) Tanjug
