PRISTINA EU High Representative Catherine Ashton has proposed that a meeting between Serbia and Kosovo’s presidents be held on February 6. The meeting would be held in Brussels, Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore has learnt from diplomatic sources. Brussels proposes Nikolic, Jahjaga to meet on Feb. 6 According to the daily, the proposal has been sent to Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and his Kosovo counterpart Atifete Jahjaga and they are expected to confirm their consent to organize the meeting. The daily quoted western diplomats as saying that they hoped that the agreement on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina will be reached this spring. According to them, the agreement should include all deals reached by Serbian and Kosovo Prime Ministers Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci and express willingness and determination to have peace. The sources also believe that it would be an agreement and not a peace treaty. Jahjaga’s office has released several times that the two presidents should at the meeting support Dacic and Thaci’s talks on the normalization of relations. The Serbian Presidency told Tanjug earlier that Nikolic and Jahjaga should meet soon. “Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has several times publicly invited Jahjaga to a meeting and we expect the meeting to be organized as soon as possible,” the sources from the Presidency said. They explained that a date had not been set yet and that they were waiting for an official confirmation of the interim institutions in Pristina.
