BELGRADE PM Ivica Dacic says Serbia will act in a European manner and remove a monument to members of the so-called Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac. Addressing the issue once again, the premier also noted that he would "certainly go to Brussels (for Kosovo talks), as at that time the monument in Presevo will no longer exist". PM: Memorial will go, and I'll go to Brussels “We will act European, which means that we will remove the monument,” Dacic clarified for Serbia's public broadcaster RTS. His statement came in reaction to the call of Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, for Serbia "to act European" in the case of the OVPMB (UCPMB) monument in Presevo, southern Serbia. The now disbanded group was an offshoot of the KLA in Kosovo, of which Haradinaj was one of the leaders. But Dacic also said that "is not certain that it is possible" to put up monuments to members of terrorist organizations anywhere in Europe, including those who were directly involved in murders of police officers and soldiers. Dacic said that international organizations, particularly the ones that operate in southern Serbia, proposed that Albanians should remove the monument, and that he is ready for such a compromise. The prime minister underlined that there is no question about his departure for Brussels, where he is to meet with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci on January 17. Dacic stated earlier for the Belgrade daily Blic that he will not depart for Brussels before the monument is removed, adding that "Albanians are due to remove it by January 17". “If they do not remove it on their own, we will do that. It is not questionable whether I will go to Brussels. I will do that certainly, but the monument will not longer exist at the time,” Dacic said. (Beta) Blic RTS Tanjug
