BELGRADE Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo has released that "Serbia is not the Hague Tribunal to think that crimes against Serbs should be rewarded". Commenting on Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj’s statement that “Serbia should show European behavior” regarding a monument to members of the so-called Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja (UCPMB), the Office for Kosovo said that such statement was an example that every unpunished crime can be repeated. Serbia does not reward crimes, Office for Kosovo says “Regarding Ramush Haradinaj’s statement, we reiterate that 150 churches, monasteries and other buildings have been destroyed, damaged and desecrated in the last ten years in the territory of Kosovo, 61 of which have a status of cultural monument,” reads the release. According to the Office for Kosovo, more than 100,000 icons, church artifacts “that are being sold in the global illegal antiquities market” have been stolen. 5,261 tombstones at 256 Serb Orthodox cemeteries have been destroyed and damaged, while there is not a single whole tombstone in more than 50 cemeteries in Kosovo, it is stressed in the release. “Bones have even been dug out from Serb graves and scattered around while cemeteries have been turned into landfills,” the Office for Kosovo added. Haradinaj said on Saturday that he hoped that “Belgrade will adhere to European principles and criteria” regarding the monument to the terror group in the southern Serbian town of Presevo. Serbian PM Ivica Dacic has said that the authorities will remove the monument if the local ethnic Albanian leaders refuse to do it themselves, while President Tomislav Nikolic said that the state should tear down the monument “in broad daylight” if Albanians do not remove it.
