BELGRADE The opposition DSS party says the EU was "never really interested in Serbia's EU path but used its wish for EU integration to create an independent Kosovo". DSS spokesman Petar Petkovic said during a regular media conference in Belgrade on Monday that "all masks have fallen off" and underscored that the EU deceived Serbia on two occasions, both regarding Kosovo and the EU. DSS: EU abused Serbia's membership ambition The only attitude toward Serbia boiled down to direct blackmail of the country so that it would advance toward the creation of an independent Kosovo one step at a time, Petkovic said. He noted that the EU demanded Serbia to participate in the creation of an independent Kosovo because the only way for Kosovo to round off its independence was if Serbia recognized the false state, and added that DSS has been warning against this ever since 2008. The EU never saw Serbia as a partner and friend, Petkovic said and added that this is why DSS has been forcefully opposing the continuation of the European integration. The EU path will take Serbia directly to perdition the ultimate aim of which is embodied in an independent Kosovo, he said.
