Novi Pazar put road construction company workers on Saturday continued to build road infrastructure at the Jarinje administrative crossing.
The construction works are conducted in accordance with the agreement on the integrated crossings management.
However, the work will not be done within the envisaged deadline due to a four-day protest of northern Kosovo Serbs but the crossing will regardless be opened on Monday.
According to announcements, temporary containers will be set up in order to allow traffic to work normally.
A decision to end the protest was made by councilors of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvečan, Leposavić and Zubin Potok on Friday.
Leaders of northern Kosovo Serbs have said that they will “temporarily” end the protest but that it will be radicalized “if the border is established”.
Kosovska Mitrovica Mayor Krstimir Pantić told reporters on Saturday that “representatives of citizens who took part in drafting conclusions yesterday are aware that construction works on buildings that will be used for the integrated crossings management need to continue“.
“The Jarinje administrative crossings in northern Kosovo will start working on Monday, December 10, in accordance with the integrated management system, although construction work on it will not be completely finished by then,” Pavićević told B92.
He toured the crossing on Saturday and said that first vehicles and persons would go through Jarinje on Monday at 8:00 CET.
Pavićević told B92 that there would be “no drastic differences” between the integrated and the previous crossing.
He said that citizens would be able to cross with only ID cards.
He also added that northern Kosovo Serbs had been given written guarantees from the Serbian government that the integrated management at the crossing would not bring “drastic changes”.
