BELGRADE Democratic Party leader Dragan Djilas has assessed that the situation in the country is bad and that the government does not have many results to be proud of. The DS is holding a Main Board meeting in Belgrade on Saturday. Poor situation in country, DS leader says “Serbia is a country with two percent lower unemployment rate than six months ago, inflation has exceeded ten percent, more and more people do not get their wages and Serbia is a country in which the authorities still are not ready to tell the truth what and who it is talking about Kosovo and Metohija,” Djilas stressed. He added that President Tomislav Nikolic, despite promises that he would tell citizens the truth about Kosovo and a plan for the solving of the issue, still had not done that, just like he had not kept other promises. The DS leader also criticized the Amnesty Law which allowed some of the serious criminals to be released. “We are becoming a society in which security is not on the same level as six months ago,” he said. Djilas also criticized the ruling majority for rejecting amendments to the 2013 budget draft which would have secured full wages for women on maternity leave, claiming it showed their attitude toward citizens. He announced that the DS would soon prepare a draft law on the election of local authorities, which would allow mayors and municipal presidents to be elected directly. Dragan Djilas (Tanjug) Tanjug
