Opposition party proclamation: Serbia is under threat

BELGRADE The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has published a paid proclamation entitled "Serbia Under Threat," which was signed by more than 260 public figures. "This is not only stealing Kosovo, but a broad attack on the country's territorial integrity. The EU not only humiliates Serbia through the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), but also blackmails it by encouraging new separatist tendencies in (the province of Vojvodina) and the Raska Disctrict (Sandzak)." "Our national tradition, economic development, frail democracy, the rule of law and last but not least, the moral integrity and self-respect of the nation are in jeopardy," reads the proclamation. "With full conviction, we oppose these detrimental processes going on before our eyes and the eyes of the world. This is why we appeal to all those who still have a conscience and a sense of responsibility for the fate of their fellow people and the state to say NO and strongly oppose those putting Serbia's survival at risk," the DSS further said. The party, led by former Yugoslav president and Serbian PM Vojislav Kostunica also called on all free citizens, intellectuals and public figures to join the proclamation and raise their voice in the defense of Serbia, its independence and freedom.
