Protest against Hague ruling held in Belgrade

A memorial service for the Serb victims of the 90s wars and a protest march against the Hague Tribunal’s ruling were held in Belgrade on Sunday.

BELGRADE A memorial service for the Serb victims of the 90s wars and a protest march against the Hague Tribunal’s ruling were held in Belgrade on Sunday. The protesters also submitted a request to the Serbian parliament to call a special session on human rights of refugees and adopt a resolution. Protest against Hague ruling held in Belgrade Serbian Patriarch Irinej held the memorial service for the victims in the Belgrade's Cathedral Church. The protest march against “the political and humiliating verdict of the Hague Tribunal to Croat Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac” started soon after the service. The protesters carried banners saying "We want justice for Serb victims", "The Hague - legalization of ethnic cleansing of Serbs". Serbian PM Ivica Dacic, parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic, First Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic, ministers and representatives of other state institutions attended the memorial service and tool part in the protest march. Coalition of Refugee Associations President Miodrag Linta handed the speaker the request for the special session in front of the Serbian parliament. “Our goal is to express the protest against the Hague Tribunal’s shameful verdict and to launch the initiative to call a special session of the Serbian parliament that would focus on violation of human rights of refugees and expelled persons and all other citizens who suffered,” Linta said earlier on Sunday. He added that the goal was also to adopt a resolution on respect of human rights of refugees and expelled Serbs. (Tanjug) Tanjug
