BELGRADE The police and the prosecution have been investigating the role of Delta Holding and its owner Miroslav Miskovic in several privatizations, daily Blic writes. According to the daily, the authorities are looking into privatization of C Market retail chain and five road construction companies. “Investigation against Delta Holding owner underway” Blic writes that these privatizations are being investigated as a part of the probe into privatization of 24 controversial privatizations that Brussels pointed to. The daily has learnt that the investigations quickly led to Miskovic and his companies. Blic reports that an agreement between Miskovic, businessman Milan Beko and C Market Director Slobodan Radulovic to sign a memorandum that would prevent Slovenian Mercator from buying C Market retail chain so Miskovic could buy it through Primer C company was reached at then Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica’s initiative. The daily writes that as far as the road construction companies are concerned, the investigation is mostly focusing on how Miskovic bought 70 percent of shares in the Belgrade Road Company. Miskovic later sold the company to Nibens Group owner Milo Djuraskovic who was arrested in May 2011 on suspicion of incurring damages worth EUR 32mn to FAM Krusevac company together with seven more persons. Miskovic recently withdrew from Belgrade-based daily Press which was shut down soon after. There have been speculations that this was Miskovic’s way of reaching a “nonaggression pact” with the state. However, First Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic immediately denied the allegations, stressing that the state would not cut deals with the Delta Holding owner and that he was not above the law. On the other hand, Delta Holding issued a release on Thursday, stating that the company had been operating legally and that it would protect its interests. The company also commented on “attacks against Miskovic that come from (Belgrade-based tabloid) Kurir and B92” in the release. Miroslav Miskovic (Beta, file) B92 Blic
