NOVI SAD Vojvodina Executive Council Deputy Chairman Goran Jesic has warned that Vojvodina’s jurisdiction could be “consciously or unconsciously” be revoked. According to him, the province’s jurisdiction could be consciously or unconsciously revoked during adoption of systemic bills in the Serbian parliament. “Revocation of Vojvodina’s jurisdiction must be prevented” “Such laws forget jurisdiction of the provincial secretariats and Vojvodina and one by one jurisdiction of Vojvodina is being removed, intentionally or due to legislators’ lack of knowledge,” Jesic told Beta news agency. He stressed that such situations should be prevented and added that the Vojvodina Executive Council had formed a working group that should discuss the issue with the Serbian government. Jesic said that the lack of dialogue was a key problem in the current situation in the country. “We should solve problems through dialogue, not make new gaps where everybody would stand on their side, without a dialogue and agreement,” he warned. He pointed out that Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic had promised that Vojvodina’s constitutional jurisdiction would be respected and added that the province did not ask for anything else. “The fact that the Constitution is not good is a separate issue and it is good that we will have to change it. At the moment, we have completely harmonized our bills with decisions of the Constitutional Court and only communication should be better, because there are no legal and formal problems,” Jesic concluded.
