VIENNA European Council President Herman Van Rompuy has said that EU accession of the countries of the Western Balkans is the Union’s priority. He said in Vienna on Friday that the Western Balkan countries’ EU membership meant permanent peace in the region. “EU’s priority is Western Balkan countries' accession” Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger also said that peace was secured only inside the EU while the situation was different outside its borders. “Peace can only be maintained with the help of soldiers in Bosnia and Kosovo,” he stressed.
