BELGRADE Democratic Party's Bojan Pajtic expects his party, under new leadership, to return to power quickly thanks to “the current government’s disastrous policy”. The Vojvodina Executive Council president and DS deputy leader told daily Kurir that Serbia could expect the new DS to be the main defender of the socially underprivileged, women and minorities and the biggest proponent of social reforms. “This government guarantees Democratic Party’s return” “We will be a strong opposition and control in places where we are not a part of the parliamentary majority and a responsible authority in towns we kept the majority,” he stressed. When asked what would be the first steps of Dragan Djilas as a DS leader, and himself as his deputy, Pajtic said that the steps would focus on the positioning of the party in new political circumstances, consolidation of the organization and securing better communication between the headquarters and local organizations. He repeated that he did not choose sides and that he believed that the DS needed new energy, new way of functioning and new people due to new circumstances. “(Current DS leader Boris) Tadic will have an important role in the functioning of the party and its further work.
