BELGRADE An MP from the ranks of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) believes that "Belgrade is falling behind Pristina again". The fact the platform for the talks regarding Kosovo was not ready for adoption and debate before the parliament could be a great problem for Serbia, said Bojan Djuric. LDP: Belgrade falls behind Pristina again "As far as I understand, the Serbian president's team will inform some of the highest officials and the prime minister on Wednesday about the basics of the plan. The platform is not ready for adoption and parliament debate yet and I see a great problem in that, and the chief negotiator will be Dacic, even though he is going to learn tomorrow about the text someone else has written," Djuric noted. He pointed out that Pristina "adopted a general declaration in the parliament a few days ago". The key thing that the platform for the talks on Kosovo has to include is an accurate plan regarding the deadline and method of reaching agreements in several key issues that concern the requirements for Serbia's EU integration and matters of utmost importance to the Kosovo Serbs, Djuric believes. "Those are issues regarding electrical power, telecommunications, relations with the Kosovo institutions and funding for some Serb institutions in Kosovo," he told reporters at the parliament. According to Djuric, a very precise mechanism is needed on how the parliament and other government institutions are going to control the negotiations and report on them, so the situation with the agreements signed by the former government would not repeat, meaning that "someone is always suspected of exceeding their authority or of treason". The Kosovo Serbs should take part in the talks, he remarked, and added: "We must make use of the fact that there is a part of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija who are in the Pristina institutions and who through that channel can have influence and participate in these negotiations. In that sense it is very important to avoid stories about treason." Tanjug
