BELGRADE The ruling coalition is determined to fight against corruption and it will help Deputy PM Aleksandar Vucic with the task, says Aleksandar Vulin. “There would not have been this government in the first place if there had not been for combat against corruption and there would not have been any combat against corruption if Aleksandar Vucic had not led it,” Vulin told Tanjug. “Ruling coalition fully supports corruption probes” The government’s Office for Kosovo Director stressed that Vucic, who is in charge of combat against crime “has absolute support of everyone from the coalition and he is the only guarantor that there will be no agreement with political elites, tycoons and everybody else who illegally became rich in the past 12 years”. Vulin added that it seemed sometimes as if the deputy prime minister was alone in the fight but stressed that this was not true and he had support of the entire ruling coalition. Vucic said on Saturday that a case against former Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Oliver Dulic, who is suspected of abuse of office, was just a beginning. The New Serbia (NS) has stated that the authorities need to be persistent in combat against corruption and organized crime. “The NS gives full support to combat against organized crime and corruption and efforts of the First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in fight against the evil that is destroying our society,” reads the release. Combat against corruption and crime needs to remain one of the priorities of the government for the NS and a position that political affiliation can be an alibi for crimes is unacceptable, the party stressed. Insinuations that combat against corruption and crime represents Serbian government’s fight against political opponents are unacceptable, the NS said in the statement. The NS stressed that NS leader Velimir Ilic had requested from the prosecution to launch an investigation against Dulic and Nuba Invest company on suspicion of abuse of office. The prosecution believes that Dulic illegally issued permits to Nuba Invest to mount optic cables along roads across Serbia during his term in office. Police tried to arrest him on Saturday but the former minister pleaded immunity. He later renounced it and reported to the police but his interview was postponed until parliament officially revokes his immunity. Dulic claims he is innocent and that the case against him represents a political persecution. Beta Tanjug
