Agreement on financing of Vojvodina reached

NOVI SAD Vojvodina Executive Council President Bojan Pajtic and Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic have reached an agreement on solving the issue of Vojvodina’s financing. They pointed out that the adoption of the Law on Vojvodina’s financing was an important precondition for the province’s stable financing. Agreement on financing of Vojvodina reached “We have reached a high level of consent on how differences on the share that Vojvodina should get from the republic budget in accordance with the Constitution should be solved,” Pajtic told reporters after the two-hour meeting in Novi Sad on Thursday. He noted that the problem had not been solved completely but stressed that they would work together on a draft law that should be adopted in the first half of 2013, according to Dinkic’s announcements. The finance minister added that it had been agreed that a basis for the calculation of transfers in Vojvodina, i.e. for the calculation of the entire provincial budget, would be increased by 9.5 percent when compared to the basis that was used while this year’s budget was drafted. “Vojvodina will also have a larger share of the income that will be made thanks to the tax on profit,” he explained.
