BELGRADE B92 has learnt that Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Dragan Djilas will today present his program and seek support for his candidacy for the party leader. However, he still has not officially submitted his candidacy for the DS leader. B92 has learnt that Djilas will on Saturday in the central Serbian city of Kragujevac present his candidates for deputy leaders. According to announcements, representatives of 120 DS town and municipal boards will attend the event that will begin at 14:00 CET. DS Kragujevac City Board President Dusan Obradovic in the meantime told Tanjug that Djilas would today announce his candidacy and start a campaign for the party elections that will be held on November 10. DS Presidency member Bozidar Djelic told daily Vecernje novosti that he expected more than 100 boards to nominate Djilas for the new DS leader after the Saturday’s event. “Time will show an enormous contribution and historic merits of (DS leader) Boris Tadic, not only for Serbia but for the entire region. But our voters have sent a clear message that they wanted things to change both in Serbia and in the DS and I believe that the necessary changes will be implemented quicker and better by Djilas than by other candidates,” he was quoted as saying. Djilas has stated that responsibility and meritocracy needed to be strengthened in the DS. “We are not in the DS so we can hang out but to do a great job for the citizens,” he pointed out. DS committees will nominate their candidates for the new party leader next week.

B92 has learnt that Đilas will on Saturday in the central Serbian city of Kragujevac present his candidates for deputy leaders.

According to announcements, representatives of 120 DS town and municipal boards will attend the event that will begin at 14:00 CET.

DS Kragujevac City Board President Dušan Obradović in the meantime told Tanjug that Đilas would today announce his candidacy and start a campaign for the party elections that will be held on November 10.

DS Presidency member Božidar Đelić told daily Večernje novosti that he expected more than 100 boards to nominate Đilas for the new DS leader after the Saturday’s event.

“Time will show an enormous contribution and historic merits of (DS leader) Boris Tadić, not only for Serbia but for the entire region. But our voters have sent a clear message that they wanted things to change both in Serbia and in the DS and I believe that the necessary changes will be implemented quicker and better by Đilas than by other candidates,” he was quoted as saying.

Đilas has stated that responsibility and meritocracy needed to be strengthened in the DS.

“We are not in the DS so we can hang out but to do a great job for the citizens,” he pointed out.
