KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo President Milan Ivanovic says local Serbs do not have information about a platform for the solving of the Kosovo issue. “We are here, we have years of experience, this is about our lives and we know best what should be done,” he told a press conference in Kosovska Mitrovica. “Serbs from north want to work on govt. platform for Kosovo” He added that newly appointed Belgrade team chief Dejan Pavicevic “does not instill confidence” that he would do his job right. When asked to comment on Prime Minister Ivica Dacic’s statement on partition of Kosovo, Ivanovic said that “there are various partitions and one kind of partition is a partition on entities, territorial autonomies” and that he could not interpret the PM’s words because he did not know which partition he had in mind. “Every solution in accordance with the Serbian Constitution and UN Security Council Resolution 1244 is acceptable for the Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo,” he noted. “The Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo could accept some kind of protectorate for northern Kosovo and other Serbs, south of the Ibar River, could accept something similar in the territory they live, in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244,” Ivanovic said. According to him, northern Kosovo Serbs could decide on their future status at a referendum. “All citizens living in the north of the province would take part in the referendum, regardless of their religion and ethnicity, and all of them would have a chance to decide on their future, in which state they will continue their lives,” he explained. Ivanovic stressed that the agreements reached in Brussels were anti-constitutional and illegal, adding that they should not be implemented. “We cannot accept the agreement on lack of freedom and the integrated customs management,” he said and noted that it would mean legalization of the secession and creation of the Kosovo state in the Serbian territory.
