BELGRADE Belgrade officials will not negotiate with Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci because of his past and accusations that he committed crimes, says Dejan Pavicevic. “Because of his past and accusations against him, the talks with him are not possible. Until the accusations are investigated and until the court says he is guilty or not guilty, Thaci cannot be an interlocutor of anyone from the official Belgrade, including me,” the Belgrade team chief stressed. “Serbian officials won’t speak with Kosovo PM” He told daily Press that a clear strategy needed to be defined for the continuation of the dialogue with Pristina in order to avoid ad hoc solutions and reduce damage from the previous period. “The Serbian government needs to have a very clear position, a clear strategy and good communication with President Tomislav Nikolic with whom I have had an excellent communication since the day he was elected president,” Pavicevic explained. According to him, the continuation of the dialogue depends mostly on a meeting between the Serbian president and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in New York. The Belgrade team head noted that “Serbia will continue to insist on including the UN in the talks”, adding that “we will see whether we will be successful or not”. According to him, the previous negotiating team made mistakes and it is up to the new government to fix them. Dejan Pavicevic Tanjug
