The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will conclude its 66th session on Monday, symbolically transferring the presidency from Qatar to Serbia.

NEW YORK The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will conclude its 66th session on Monday, symbolically transferring the presidency from Qatar to Serbia. The assembly's new president, Serbia's former Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, will officially assume his new role. Former FM set to take over UNGA presidency The ceremony of transfer of duties from the previous president, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, will be held at the UN headquarters in New York. All UN member countries will take part at the event where the Serbian representative will be presented for the first time in his new capacity as the UN General Assembly president. The annual session of the UNGA opens September 18 and the general debate on September 25. As is traditional, the president of Brazil will be the first to address the world leaders, followed by the U.S. president. The ceremony of transfer of duties from the previous president, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, will be held at the UN headquarters in New York.
