BELGRADE Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic expects the government to invest in renewal of military resources and improve the Serbian Army's financial situation. At the opening of the international Batajnica 2012 air show on Sunday, he said that it was Serbia's obligation to follow the global trends in the military industry and to develop and strengthen the country’s defense. Military resources need to be renewed, president says He stressed this was necessary in order to the army to be able to respond to modern challenges, risks and threats. Nikolic assessed that it was of vital importance for the country’s defense and stability to create an efficient, modern and operational aviation based on efficient air defense, adding that the pilot training was a priority. He noted that Serbia had a powerful military industry, especially in the area of aviation which was making an effort to return to the international scene. The president also thanked numerous airmen from abroad who came to the air show. “This way we enrich and strengthen Serbia’s international cooperation. This is an image we want to show to the world, of well-intentioned and hospitable Serbia,” Nikolic stressed.
