NOVI SAD Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Novi Sad Board President Milos Vucevic says it depends on the Socialists whether the city’s ruling structure will be changed, “I guarantee that if the SPS leaves the coalition with the Democratic Party (DS), the authority in Novi Sad will be changed,” he told a press conference. “Changes in Novi Sad depend on Socialists" The SNS official did not want to say when the change could happen. He added that the Progressives were counting on the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and Dveri’s councilors as potential partners in the new ruling coalition. The SNS has 15 seats in the Novi Sad assembly, the DSS and Dveri have five seats each and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) has seven seats. The assembly has a total of 78 seats. When asked how the SNS was planning on forming the majority, Vucevic said that there was a possibility of cooperation with the three Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) and six Roma Democratic Party councilors. “The SPO can be a potential partner for the SNS in Novi Sad. We will talk to them about it and I am not ruling out a possibility of reaching an agreement,” he explained. The SNS official rejected speculations that the Progressives were trying to take over Novi Sad by “buying” councilors of the ruling majority. The DS, League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) and SPS formed the ruling majority in Novi Sad. The DS has 18 seats in the assembly, LSV 15 while the SPS-led coalition has seven.
