BELGRADE Novi Sad Mayor Igor Pavlicic told daily Politika that he did not expect any changes in the city ruling structure. He pointed out that he had a complete faith in the current coalition partners, the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS)-led coalition. Novi Sad mayor “does not expect any changes” “I do not expect changes in the city ruling structure that was formed not even a month ago. I fully trust our coalition partners and the word we gave each other during the forming of the majority,” Pavlicic was quoted as saying. Commenting on announcements of SPS, United Regions of Serbia (URS) and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) that the ruling structure in Novi Sad will change, he stressed that citizens of Novi Sad had clearly said at the May election to whom they wanted to give a mandate to run the city and that it was “natural for the majority to be formed around the Democratic Party and its coalition partners”. “Running Novi Sad is a responsible job and the entire City Council is doing precisely that, every one of us has their duty and I am sure that we will be more successful if we deal less with politics and more with our work and our results,” the Novi Sad mayor noted. He explained that there was no legal basis for the early elections as long as there was the majority in the assembly and the city functioned normally.
